Will I ever get it together?

Ky-An is now one and I still don't know how to take him to run errands with me. You'd think I would figure out a way by now or at least know how to juggle it. I haven't been able to take him to the grocery store with me, to the mall, or just to run out and get a gift or something. In the past year plus, I've been making a grocery list and Hieu would run to the store during lunch or when Ky-An is asleep. We can't even go out to eat because Ky-An sleeps at 7:30 - 8 and we feel guilty everytime we go out and keep him up. Hieu has been picking up food togo or I cook every once in a blue moon.

I get to be home with him every other Friday but we just stay at home because I don't see how I can take him anywhere with his schedule. We may be able to take a walk around the neighborhood or across the street to the playground and that's it. Okay Ky-An goes to bed at 7:30p.m. - 8:00p.m. as mentioned above. He then wakes up at 5:30a.m. - 6:30a.m. He gets his morning bottle, eat cereal by 8 and gets is down for his morning nap at 8:30 - 9a.m. He sleeps for about an hour or so and then I let him play for about 30 minutes. After that it's lunchtime and then he gets sleepy again at about 11:30 - 12p.m. He sleeps until about 3p.m. and then it's dinner time. So I get only about 2 hours or so in between naps but I have to fit in feeding during that time. If I take him outthen either I have to feed him at the store or he'll miss his nap. How do you do any shopping if you have to feed your baby on the cart? Not to mention the funny look I get from people. If I make him miss his nap then he'll be fussy the whole time and the bags under his eyes is enough to make me feel like a bad mom and rush home.

His longest awake time is in the afternoon from 3-7 and that will be my window of opportunity if I want to go anywhere. However, he'll eat dinner until 4 and by the time we start to leave, it's traffic time in Houston. It's going to take me at least an hour to go anywhere and back. In addition, my "little boy" is half my size. He weighs 28 pounds so I can't easily carry him in one arm, I need both of them to support him. I'd somehow have to balance a diaper bag, him, my car keys, and a stroller or cart cover while waking to the store. By the time I get there I am huffing and puffing and it's just more trouble than it's worth. Currently I run my errands during lunch or on my telecommute day every Thursdays. I have a pile of clothes from his birthday that I need to return and I really need to go grocery shopping if I want to start cooking again. I can only send Hieu to go get certain stuff but not to pick vegetables or buy meat because he doesn't know what looks good. I am starting to wonder if I am never going to get it together and this will just be my life from now on.

In other news, Ky-An has regressed from his walking. He won't take many steps anymore unless he's touching something of mine or Hieu's. I wonder if walking was such a big step for him that he hot scared. If we make him stand by himself, he'll lean back on us. If we make him walk he'll turn around and hug us or lean over to grab our shirts. If I stick a finger out, he'll grab on it and walk just fine. I guess it offers moral support to him. Maybe he just needs to build his confidence to walk on his own again. He's also sticking up his butt and try to crawl recently. Hieu claims he's going to do everything this month..hahaha. I hope he starts walking around soon, it may make things a little easier...or harder. I am not sure yet.

Party is over...

Gosh so much to post about today. First of all Ky-An started walking on Saturday!!!! Yeah, we were so excited. He took 2 steps on Saturday morning and was doing about 10 steps last night. It is so exciting to see my baby walking around and he was so excited also.

We spent the whole day yesterday recuperating from the party. Party was a great success!! Yeah!! Glad all our hard work paid off. I took off early on Friday and had to run to 4 Party Cities to get all the stuff because my ebay order never arrived. I had so much to do and had cooked some soup for Hieu's family to eat because they are flying in and should have something home-made. Luckily I have lots of help from my brother-in-law, my sister, and her boyfriend. Joseph (BIL) tied ribbons to the photo cubes for me and my sister's boyfriend fill the treat bags for the kids. We get up at 6 a.m. the next morning to get everything ready.
Hieu made these photo cubes for the adult party favors:
My firsts - I copied this idea off a lady on my Babycenter January '06 board:

The ceremony was great and Ky-An picked a plane and a book. That means he may be a pilot and is good academically. I hope so! He was also going to pick the sticky rice but he keep poking around at it and won't pick it up so my mom said it doesn't count. I guess that means he'll be interested in food but it won't be a life career..haha. After that we opened presents from our family. It was already 2 by the time all that was done and the party is at 3p.m. I had to go put Ky-An down for a quick nap before his party and everyone scatter around to go pick up food and cakes.

Check out Ky-An's bling bracelet. It's a present from my older sisters: Offering to the ancestors: The buffet table:
Guests start arriving at 3 and they still weren't back with the food! I was getting a bit stress..haha. Luckily Ky-An slept until 4 but when he get out to the living room, I think he was a bit overwhelmed with the crowd that was there. After the crowd left, he seem a bit more relaxed. I am so happy everyone seem to have a great time at the party, especially the kids. I was depress when the forecast said 70-90% chance of rain because I really want to put up the moonwalk. Luckily it only rained at night and early in the morning. By the time the party came around, it was sunny and dry. The kids also had a blast with the pinata and all of Ky-An's toys. Everyone keep saying he has so much toys but I didn't think so. LOL. I love the new way they make the pinatas now. Instead of each kid taking turn hitting the pinata (so dangerous in my opinion), they have about 20 ribbbons tied to the pinata and each kid takes turn pulling on one. One of them opens up the latch and lets out all the candies. So much fun!

The moonwalk:
Pinata time: The crowd (luckily they were spread throughout the house and outside so it wasn't too cramped):
I went through all the trouble of getting Ky-An's cake but he didn't much care for it..haha. Figures. Either he was too tired or too lazy to eat the cake. He'll eat it if we feed the cake to him but refuse to get into it and eat it himself. I think there was about 2 holes in the $25 cake I got him. I stuck it in the freezer because I didn't want it to go to waste. Not sure what I am going to do with it though.
The cake for the guest. It was so yummy!
His smash cake:

After the cake and opening of present, everyone left with their kids because they are getting tired at about 5p.. The party is not over though because some more of my friends came at that time and we were hanging out with them until about 7. Hieu was a soldier and went out to cook crawfish and crab for the family in the evening. We had so much crawfish also that I had to call some of my friends that live close by to come back and help us eat. We even pack togo for them but there was still A LOT left.

We had so much leftovers that there was no space left in our fridge. I had to beg people to take some home. Even with that everytime we open the fridge yesterday, something falls out..hahah. We had to leave the cake and some other stuff out until yesterday. Ate it one last time and had to throw the rest away. So wasteful I know but they were getting spoiled.

All in all it's a wonderful party and it's worth all the trouble that we went through to plan it. Ky-An received $750 in cash along with all his presents. We had to put a lot of his toys away in the closet and are going to put his money either in his education fund or a savings. As I said before, we only went all out at this party because I felt like I had to make it up to him for not really "celebrating" while I was pregnant. Of course not all his party are going to be this extravagant. He's going to be expecting it every year and we can't have that.

Happy Birthday KyAn!!!!

My baby is one today!!! He's not my baby anymore, I've now officially have a toddler. *sniff sniff* I can't beleive we just met him for the first time this morning. I had to be at the hospital at 5a.m. for my schedule c-section and Hieu and I didn't sleep a wink the night before. 2 years of waiting for a baby, 1 year of trying, and 9 months of worry all boil down to this one moment of truth. My doctor this time is very good and a famous pediatric cardiologist. They wheeled my in the surgery room at 8a.m., my doctor come in and start chatting with her assitant doctor. I thought she was just touching my stomach before she start cutting but when I asked Hieu have they started yet, he said she's been starting. After that I strain my ears to hear my baby's cry. I feel the little pressure of them coming in to get KyAn, then he came out screaming and it's music to our ears!!! Hieu and I literally hold our breathe until that moment. We both let out a HUGE sigh of relief and were so estatic. We finally have a baby of our own!!!!

I was so smitten by KyAn that I wouldn't let Hieu put him in the nursery for longer than necessary. He spent most of his time with us and sleeping with me. I was just so happy that there's an actual baby in our plastic crib and not an empty one like before. My arms finally feel full again and no longer empty. However, having KyAn in the room with us cause Hieu to be really exhausted because everytime Kyan needs to eat, he'll have to get up and bring the baby to my bed because it hurts for me to move. Then after breastfeed on each breast for 10 minutes, he had to get the baby and feed him some formula from the bottle because my milk hasn't come in. I remember KyAn was an eater even then. One feeding he finished 2 or 2.5oz of milk and we were so worry. Are newborns even suppose to eat that much? He actually gain a pound when we were discharge from the hospital..haha. Most baby lost weight when they leave the hospital but mine gained. What a chunker!

It was a crazy week once we got home because we had nothing set up for him. I was frustrated because there's so much to do and I am not very mobile. All I can do is lay on the bed and watch Hieu, my sister's boyfriend, Chi, and Hoa bring all of Lan Vy's unused stuff from the attic and unpacked them. Hieu had to run out to Target to get a crib set because we gave Lan Vy's away to my older sister. Plus it was too girly.

I remember we will just lay there and watch him sleep. We were so fascinated that our baby is finally here. Hieu would try to wake him up so he can hold him..haha. Now we just hope he'll go to sleep. We've came so far and learned so many things in one year. I can't believe it all went by so fast. Thank goodness we remember to cheerish every moment with our little miracle, crying and all. =) Happy birthday my sweet baby. We are so blessed to have you here.

Almost there!

We are almost there for KyAn's party on Saturday. Hieu rented a carpet cleaner and brother-in-law cleaned the living room for us. Most of the disgusting stains are gone on the part close to the foyer so I am happy. I also finished the "My First" collages on tuesday night and dh had them printed out yesterday along with the photo cubes. Joseph (BIL) and him has been working on assembling it. I've also started decorating yesterday and the house is starting to look festive!

It has been raining here for the past 3 days so I've been constantly checking the weather for Saturday. Wouldn't you know it, it's sunny on Friday and Sunday but 70% rai on Saturday. UGH..I hope that won't deter people from coming or ruin KyAn's party. Hope they are wrong about the 70% so we can still put the moonwalk up. I guess we'll have to wait until Saturday and play it by ear. We already had one family backing out of the party. I hope that will be the only one because I ordered lots and lots of food.

I've also found a place to make KyAn's smash cake. I am so excited about this. The baker is a friend of my friend and she has done wonderful cakes in the past. http://cakesbyginahouston.com/_wsn/page9.html She said she's make the cake an oval shape like an egg, then put the Chicken Little green glasses, his t-shirt and shorts on. I think it's going to be really cute and I can't wait to see it. The little cake cost $25 which is not as outrageous as I thought for something so customized. Not cheap for a cake he'll probably take two bites out of but not out there either.

It's been crazy at work and I have a project I have to finish by Friday or I would've taken that day off. Maybe I'll haul butt and try to finish the project early on Friday so I can take the rest of the day off to run errands. It's been crazy but the next time I'll have to go through this again will be his wedding. =)

Decisions..decisions...

I thought I would just run to Michael's and Party City really quick during lunch and run some errands for KyAn's party...WRONG!!! I took an hour at each place because I can't make up my darn mind. I was suppose to just run to Michael's to get some paper to mount the My First collages that I have. I got there and found out they have various size papers! There was a 12x12, 8x11, and 8x5. I can't decide between the 12x12 or the 8x11. If I choose the 12x12 then that mean I'll have to redo all the layout for the pages because I did it for a regular sheet of paper. So finally I picked the blue 8x11 with glittery stars on it. Then I thought it'd be cute to put ribbon around the pictures and I spent a while looking at the ribbon. I found a perfect one that's blue and say's "Baby's First". I put it next to the mount background I choose and realize that's too much stuff. It may take away from the pictures which is the real focus. So I went back to the paper section..AGAIN...to see if there's any cute plain blue paper. Found some and put a sheet of white paper on top trying to imagine if it look okay. Decide that look too boring so I went back to the blue star paper. I did all this while the staff were doing inventory, especially around the paper area. They keep looking at me like I was crazy because I keep going back and forth about 5 times.

So an hour an Micheal's and I left with 12 sheets of blue glittery star paper. I ran to Party City and face the same dilemma. I ordered some Chicken Little stuff online and the lady said she shipped it since last week but I haven't seen it yet. I am getting nervous and don't know if I should go ahead and buy the stuff or just wait. ThenI can't decide if I need to get 20 treat bags for the 20 plus kids at the party or if the older kids would think it's lame. I also had to decide what I want to put in the bags and if it's enough. I did manage to find the Chicken Little Pinata for the party so I am happy about that. I think I will have to make another trip to Party City on Friday if the stuff I bought from ebay didn't come, and if I start filling the treat bags and found out I didn't have enough/bought too much. I think I already bought every Chicken Little thing available there. Good thing Chicken Little is not that popular and most of their stuff are on clearance!

Week in Ky-An pic

His new favorite toy:

I think he always look so cute whenever he's waiting for his bath.

Here he is in the Prince hat I bought him for his birthday party.

This is what he looks like when he saw me! How could you not love the guy? :P

Weekend of arm ache and headache...

I can't believe I haven't post all weekend!!! Busy busy. Well KyAn was sick all weekend so I stayed up most of the nights with him. Poor guy couldn't breathe from all the mucus, keep coughing and can't sleep. :( Sometimes I thought he's such a big boy because he knows exactly where he wants to go and what he wants to do. He'll throw a tantrum if we don't let him do what he wants (which is mostly getting into trouble..haha). It's time like this that I realize he's still such a helpless baby. He can't blow his nose nor ask for help, and is still not very mobile yet. I try to put him next to the humidifier but then realize that somehow made him cough even more. I think the steam is also too cold for him because he whimpered last night when I turn it on and then did just fine after that. Poor guy, I feel so bad whenever he coughs. I was so desperate to try and do something to help him but he would cry whenever I put the nasal aspirator to his face. Even when his eyes are closed! He must have super vision or something. I even pray to let me be sick instead of him. I hate it when he's sick.

Party update: I've ordered all the food for the party, ordered the cakes, and got all the responds in. So far we are having about 56 people confirm for the party. YIKES!!! It's nice that everyone wants to be there for KyAn's first birthday but I don't know if our house can accomodate that many! LOL. I didn't think everyone I invited would come! I guess I am more loved than I thought..haha (or maybe it's KyAn's who's more loved?). Hieu has finally finish the design for the adult party favor. It's going to be a photo cube of KyAn. It's really cute. I will post pictures when he's done with it. I still need to go to Party City to get the rest of the decorations, go grocery shopping, clean the carpet at where the foyer is (it's filty there), and ask the cleaners to come this Thursday for a cleanup.

As if I don't have enough to do to prepare for the party, I decided to take on another project! I saw this cute idea from one of the ladies on my January '06 Babycenter board so I told her I'll steal it from here. She has a page of every month since January and put all of her daugther's firsts on that page. It's such a cute idea!!! For example, for January she'll put "My first feeding, My first Bath, etc" and have pictures for those events. So I've been busy working on that all weekend. I am up to September so I hope to finish it soon. I still have get it printed, mount it on scrapbook paper, and hang it.

We also bought a moonwalk for the party, did I mention it? We were just going to rent one but it cost $135 for a day's rental and they charge you extra if you are out of their service area. I found a brand new on on Craig's List for $250. Hieu went to the east side of town to pick it up (an hour away) and talked him down to $230. My bargaining hubby =). We figure if we use it twice, it's worth the price. Plus my nephew's birthday is in a couple of weeks and my sister were going to rent one for him also. Unfortunately it won't go with the theme but I guess we'll just have to live with it. The only other dilema I have is whether to put it in the backyard close to the pool or at the side of the house? The trouble with the backyard is that it's close to the pool and I don't want them to accidentally fall in. If we do it at the side of the house then we risk them running into the streets or the neighborhood kids coming over wanting to use it (we live right across from the playground). I don't mind the neighborhood kids using it but then our little guests may have to wait longer for their turn. I think our best bet is to have it in the backyard right next to the patio and then use the pennant streamers to make a fence so they don't wander off to the pool area. We also told brother-in-law that he's the moonwalk security and needs to keep an eye on the kids. I am not sure how responsible he would be but we will still be able to keep an eye on the kids through the breakfast room window. Hopefully that's safe enough. I will hate it if any kids get hurt at KyAn's party. That would totally ruin the day.

Ky-An is sick :(

It's my off Friday today so I get to stay home with my little man. I think I worked a total of 2 whole days this week..haha. Feels like the holidays all over again!! I am going to have to kill myself at work next week though because there's so much to do. Anyways...Ky-An has the runny nose and has a bad hacking cough. Guess who's the culprit who gave it to him??!! My husband! Of course he immediately denied it. I feel so bad for my poor baby (Ky-An, not my guilty husband), he couldn't breathe last night so he kept tossing and turning. I keep waking up to try and position him this way and that to see if he can breathe better. I also tried giving him saline drops but it didn't help much. By 4 a.m. he was coughing so bad from all the phlegm in his throat, I had to hold him so he can have better drainage. The whole time I was awake feeling bad for Ky-An, I was so angry at Hieu for doing this to him again. He still kept coughing so I try to give him water in his sippy cup but he cries everytime it touch his mouth. Finally I got an idea to put the water in the medicine syringe and it worked. Unfortunately after he drank the water, he was wake!

I had to hold him all day today so needless to say my arms are extremely sore. He wouldn't even take his naps even though he was super tired. I had to pace the room holding him until he's a little tired, I then cradle him and swing him until he falls asleep. Did I mention my arms are sore? :P Even after all that hardwork, he only slept for an hour or so each time. It has been a difficult day! I hope he feels better before his birthday party next weekend!!!

The Count Down Has Begun...

My sister just point out to me that Ky-An's birthday party is next Saturday. OH MY GOD!!!! Where did the time go??!! I already ordered food last week and the cake. I went to Party City today with Ky-An (not an easy task by the way) to get some decorations for his Chicken Little theme. I wasn't going to get plates and napkins because they were so expensive but they were on clearance at Party City for 87 cents!! SCORE!! I also bought a disposable helium tank of 50 balloons for him. I want lots of balloons at his birthday party. Even though most of the items were on clearanced, I still left with a $94 bill. Go figure. I did got him a really cute fabric crown to wear on his birthday. There was a cheaper ones like the First Birthday cap, the paper crown, and the paper hat but none of them fit his head. My baby has a big noggin!!!

I just got the RSVPs for the party and so far we have 48 people coming!!! Oh my goodness, I don't even know if our house can accomodate that many people. 16 of those people are kids! I think I am going to have to do some kind of activities for the kids or they are going to go hog wild in the house. Holy cow, I didn't think everyone I invited would come. I was expecting half! Even most of Hieu's family are coming in. His mom and sister is flying in from Kansas and his aunt and uncle are driving in from Arkansas. My oldest sister is driving in from Dallas with my nieces and they are all staying here!

I wanted the party to be a big one because after Lan Vy, we were very cautious during my pregnancy with Ky-An. We didn't tell anyone about my pregnancy, including my family, until I was almost 4 months. That's because I couldn't hide it any longer. Even after that, we only told close friends and family. No one else knew and I don't go out much until after he was born. We didn't set up anything for him because we want to make sure he's coming home with us first. We didn't buy anything for him either because I didn't want to jinx it. I asked my friend not to throw me a baby shower and we had a Meet-and-Greet instead. The only item we got out for him was the carseat, and that's because we had to. After he came home, my sister, Chi, and Joseph all scramble to set up his crib and all his gears. Hieu had to run out and buy him onesies and a crib set, that's how bad it is. That is why I feel I must make it up to him now.

Okay so I've order food, the big cake, bought some decorations, and got some responses. I still have to call the rest of the people to confirm, order chicken nuggets and fruit tray from Chick-Fil-A for the kids, order Ky-An's cake for him to dig in, get the rest of the decorations and party favors, make the party favors for adults, prepare the "picking tray", buy Ky-An an outfit to wear, grocery shop for supplies, and decorate. My gosh, I feel like I should be jumping around right now. I like planning stuff so it's fun but it's stressful also! You know I'll keep you posted..hehe.

Debate: Police Probe Death After Radio Contest

http://news.aol.com/topnews/articles/_a/police-probe-death-after-radio-contest/20070117182009990001

I had a big argument with Hieu about this event this morning. I think the lady is very stupid and Hieu think it's very sad. I think it's her own darn fault for pushing herself past the limit just to win a stupid game console. I am just so fed up with all these stories of people having no sense of personal accountability. You feed your kids or yourself fast food, you sue the restaurant for making them fat. You spill coffee on yourself, you blame the place for making it too hot. A burglar come into you house and get hurt, he sues you for his medical bill.

Some of these stuff doesn't even make sense to me anymore and I am so scare that this will become the norm and Ky-An will grow up blaming everyone else for his mistake. Back to the story, I think it's ridiculous that the radio station is getting all the blame for this. I think they should bear part of the blame but not all. Even if she doesn't know the danger of water intoxication, she should know her limit and stop like other people did. She's probably so desperate to win this game console for her kids(that they probably don't need) and pushed herself on. She complained of feeling sick and having a headache after the contest. I think she should feel something else like nausea before she stopped. Seriously..you should know if your body is not feeling well or not. Have you try drinking even a glass of water too fast? It doesn't feel good at all and your first instinct is to stop. Even if she didn't know she can die from too much water, she has to know she will be sick. Why would you even want to risk that when you have three kids at home?? What is that teaching your kid anyway? That you should do anything you can for a game console or win a contest? Even if that means jeopardzing your health? People do stupid things for radio contests sometime. People actually took a sledgehammer to bang on their own car and shave their head for a ps3 competition here in our city. I was appalled when I was listening to it.

The contestants had to sign waivers..so they know there's a risk. Second, other contestants bail out because she's the second finalist. How did other people know to bail out? Because they know when the have had enough. Hieu think that "weighing the options death probably never occured to her unless someone lets her know of the dangers of doing it." Are people so dumb that we have to point everything out to them now? Isn't it bad enough we have to have those stupid warnings on all our products?? "Don't use this in water", "don't poke this in the eye". Only you know your body and how much of anything you can handle. Can the station be blame if she has no common sense? I mean you can die from anything if you overdo it. If they have a running contest, she keep pushing herself she'll die. If they have an eating contest, she pushes herself beyond her limit, she'll die. The whole point I am trying to make is that it's not ALL the station's fault and that you have to be responsible for your own actions. People need to have some kind of personal accountability. I am so sick of them keep blaming others for their stupidity.

Another question is where do you draw the line on people's common sense and it became the responsibility of others? If she was giving a glass of poison to drink and she didn't realize poison could kill her, is she responsible? College kids who drink too much and die from alcohol intoxication, should the bar or the bartender be sued for giving them too much? If you are out on a "Guy's night" and your friends pressure you to have sex with the striper, is it your friend's fault? If you eat one of those poisonous blowfish at a sushi bar, can your family sue them if you die? It's common knowlege and they'll make you sign a waiver but are they to blame if you take on the risk? If you wait outside Best Buy in the freezing weather for a PS3 and die because you are not bundled enough, is that Best Buy's fault for not warning you? If someone has no common sense and their decisions became the responsiblity of others then should she be consider a child instead of an adult? It's the same concept right? That they are incapable of making their own decisions.

Hieu and I didn't get anywhere with this debate and neither of us changed our position. I am sure most of you will disagree with me but I'd like to hear your thoughts. Leave me a comment and let me know.

Hibernation

So it's been freezing cold yesterday and today and what did I do? Stay the heck home!! Heheh, yesterday I "work from home" and kept Ky-An home with me. I am so fortunate to work at a place where I have that option. I really do not want Ky-An to go to the babysitter in this cold weather. He was a fussy butt yesterday and I am not sure why. He wanted my to hold him all day, whined all day, and won't stay still at any place. I am not sure why he wasn't happy because he ate just fine and slept 4 hours during the day. I've also taken him off milk until the rash on his butt cleared off so it can't be that. The only explaination I have is that his canines are cutting through and it's bothering him. Either that or he gets to stay home with me so he wants me to hold him. It's okay, cuddling with him is especially nice in this weather.

My work is closed today..Yeah!! I was hoping for it last night because Hieu has to take his little brother to court this morning (don't ask) and so I will have to drop Ky-An off. The thought of dragging myself and Ky-An out in that cold is not fun at all. I don't know how you guys do it living in those cold cold places. I get chills just thinking about it. Can you tell I hate the cold? hehe. My sister actually went to school today even though I told her not to. She said she has clinic and has to go (to Optometry school). She said "Chau, you hibernate when it's too cold". I am not going to deny it. I am a warm-blooded creature and cannot take anything below 50 degrees, thank you. ^_^

I just love staying home with KyAn, fussy butt and all. I felt a bit bad because I think I spent to much time on the computer than spending it with him. Luckily he loves sitting at Hieu's desk and mess with his keyboard..hehe. He will now move his hands up and down when you tell him "bye bye". It's the cutest thing. Today Hieu told him to say "Uncle Joseph" and he repeats it almost perfect. Not sure if he will remember it nor if he knows what it mean yet. Regardless, he's learning so many things all at once and we are so excited to see it. Now if he'll just get up and walk or crawl then we will be super excited. Move baby move!!!!

Okay I am so mad at myself..ARRGGHHHH!! I can hit myself over the head repeatedly for this. Ky-An was napping just fine when I just HAD to go in an d check on him. I notice that he was sweaty so I pulled the blanket off of him. Of course I can't leave good enough alone. I then decide to move him off his pillow to a dryer spot since his pillow is all wet from his sweat. He saw me and starts waking up and things just progess to worst there. I could not get him to go back to sleep for the life of me. So guess who wants me to hold him with puffy red eyes now??!! I don't know why I can't leave well enough alone. He probably will be exhausted around 6p.m. and will wake up at 5a.m....UGH!!!

Three in a bed

I didn't have a very good night sleep last night, I am not sure why. I didn't drink any caffeine late in the afternoon but I just couldn't get comfortable to sleep last night. I felt bad because all my tossing and turning cause Ky-An to wake up. He sleeps in between dh and I and I am glad he did. How else can I just stare at his angelic sleeping face when I couldn't sleep. I know that having him sleep on our bed is not good for dh and my relationship but I really do love having him right next to me. He loves to cuddle up with me and I am going to milk it for as long as I can...hehe.

I do worry about how we are going to transition him to his own bed and when. I also worry about how we are all going to fit if we have a second one. I really should just concentrate on the current and not the unforseen future. Right now I am just going to enjoy sleeping next to my rolly-polly. I love watching his cheeks being squished against the pillow. Or how cute he looks when his eyes are closed but his mouth droops downward ready to cry. Or how he babbles but his eyes are still close. Or how cute he looks grabbing his blanket and hug it. I may miss all of this if he's sleeping in his crib or in his own room. Plus as I said before...how else can I just lay there and watch him sleeping peacefully...*sigh*

Brrrr...so cold!!!

It's so cold outside and they are predicting a snow storm for tonight and tomorrow so most work place let their employees out early. I get to go home at 3p.m. today and work from home tomorrow. I hope dh's work will close tomorrow so he doesn't have to go to work.

Houston Metro Forecast
RAIN TODAY, ICE POSSIBLE TOMORROW

MONDAY-MONDAY NIGHT: WE HAVE AN ICE STORM WARNING FOR OUR NORTHERN AND WESTERN COUNTIES RIGHT NOW. WINTER STORM WATCH FOR HARRIS, FORT BEND, WHARTON, AND LIBERTY COUNTIES BEGINS TONIGHT.
Cold, breezy north winds will bring freezing temperatures to our northern areas. Freezing rain will be possible as a result, and bridges and overpasses will become treacherous in the warned area. The freezing air will likely reach Houston overnight Monday, so our commute Tuesday AM could be dangerous.

TUESDAY-TUESDAY NIGHT: With the coldest air in place, we might not even get above freezing during this time. Should this occur, we could have some problems with significant ice accumulations of 1/4" or more. Trees & power lines will be weighed down, and overpasses will be iced. The big question is how much moisture will ride in overhead?Stay tuned and we'll keep you posted throughout the week on this developing winter weather situation.

I know you people from the east coast are probably laughing at us but we are just not prepare for this kind of weather!!!! Eeek, hope things are not worst than they predicted because we are sure not stocked up in food.

Week in Ky-An pic

Ky-An in the Rockabye Luc Leafwalker Rocker I got him at Wal-Mart for $35. Amazon sells the EXACT some one for $86!!! What a rip-off.

He likes to sit in the basket of his stroller. I am not sure why. Hieu joked and told him he has to sit there whenever he has a younger sibling. Lol.

Here he is still sleeping when we went to a Korean restaurant on Friday. I tried to keep him up when we are in the car because I didnt' want him to be tired at the restaurant but that didn't work. He conked out on my shoulder which is rare for him because he usually wakes up at the smallest noise. He was asleep when we waited at one restaurant, it took took long so we went back to the car to go to another one, and didn't wake up until we were seated. I ordered some edamame and avocado sushi for him to eat. He keeps choking on the adamame but loves the avocado sushi!!!

My son is such a pimp! There was a little 2-year-old girl sitting at the table next to us and she just LOVES Ky-An. Whenever Hieu takes Ky-An to the front of the restaurant to watch the waterfall, she'll slid off her chair and run after him. Hieu had to take Ky-An back to our table so she would come back and eat her meal. Too funny. This picture is of her trying to hold Ky-An's hand. My son likes older women who can walk and take him around..haha. Even Jerry and Sandy's daughter woudln't get dress to go to the dinner on Saturday until they told her she's going to go see Ky-An. She was mad at me when she got there because I didn't bring him! Lol.

Here he is clapping and cuddling up with me today.

Ky-An update

I figure I will separate out my posts because the birthday one was long enough. I always write so much, my gosh!!! I mentioned all the presents in the last post but forgot to mention the best one of all..my precious son, KyAn. :) I love him so much!!!

KyAn clapped all weekend, it's so cute. He also can say "mum mum" which means eat, "me me" when he wants me, and "ba ba" for his daddy. However, I am not sure if he knows what those words really mean yet so I try to point to me and say "me me" and to dh and say "ba ba" all weekend. He mostly just look at me whenever I do that though..then he'll burst out the words on his own at some random time. He is repeating the words that we are saying. It's so exciting to see that interaction with him and seeing him develop everyday. I let him watch Baby Einstein today..I know! I actually let him watch TV...and they were making lion sounds and he starts roaring also. It shocked dh and I and we cracked up laughing. When I was opening presents I keep going "Wow!!" and he goes "Ow!!" Dh tells him to "mi mi", which means kiss, and he does it. After a while he repeats after his dad and goes "mi mi" also. He is so much fun to be around.

Poor guy was tired from me dragging him around all weekend. He was up unitl 9:30 on Friday because we went out to eat. Yesterday I am not sure what time he slept at the babysitter's but when we picked him up at 10, he was already asleep. I settled him down to bed when we got home before heading out to the club. I had my sister's phone with me the whole time in case Heu called and need me to come home. We were on our way home at 2:30 a.m. when Hieu called and said KyAn woke up crying and wouldn't go back to sleep. I told him to turn on the Flutterbye and I'll be home soon. I came home and strip off my dress because I didn't want him smelling all that smoke and lie next to him. He turn over to hug me and fell asleep..poor guy..I felt so bad. I was just going to lie next to him until he fell asleep then get up to wash my face and take a shower but when I open my eyes, it was 6 a.m.!! Goodness gracious! I went to wash my make-up off and brush my teeth. Of course KyAn woke up because I wasn't there...hehe.

He was so tired by 6p.m. today. Usually I gave him his bath, put him in my lap and read him a book while he drink his milk. I then put him down on the pillow and would babble a bit before sleeping. Today he finished his milk and turn over his side on my lap and he passed out. My poor little man. I hope he has a good night sleep tonight!

The big birthday dinner!

I had a lot of fun yesterday thanks to my sister's hardwork. She made sure I will have a good time and I did. We ran into some snags such as she has to run around looking for a cake in the last minute because their's some miscommunication with the place she ordered it from. Then the restaurant was not kid-friendly because I didn't anticipate my friend bringing her daughter and my sister to bring my nephew. Fortunately it worked out and we took up the only two boosters seats the restaurant has. Then at about 9, they dj starts playing latino music real loud and people were dancing. I felt bad for the kids. My nephew said the music is too loud and he's going to tell them to turn it off! Keep in mind he's only two.

The food was okay at Aromas. Not great but not bad. The portions are so small though, almost everyone cleaned off their plates...and we all had appetizers!!! They didn't plan the arrival of the plates correctly because some of the steaks got too cooked and my steak was warm, not hot. When it's time to pay the bill, I already told my sister ahead of time that I don't want her paying for it nor for Hieu to so she passed the bill around signaling to everyone that they have to pitch in. I felt really awkward and really bad because they have to pay for their dinner at my birthday party. On top of that, even though I specifically asked them not ton bring any gifts on the invitation, they all still do. I wished I could've pay for everyone's meal but I just can't afford it. I don't want to just pay for it and then have to get money out of our savings to pay for it..that would be bad. Oh well, most of them are financially comfortable so I hope they don't mind.

After that I went to Club Next with my friend, Nhi, my little sister, and all her friends. I had to hang out with my little sister's friends because all my friends are too old to go out..hehe. Annie went home and went to sleep. Sandy is 7-month pregnant so she can't be out. Thy and her husband, Felipe, had to go to some Western club in Katy for his sister's birthday. They weren't thrill about it but they had to go. I was a bit disappointed that no one can come out with me except for Nhi but I don't blame them. It was rainy and cold and if I it wasn't my birthday, I would've gone home and go to sleep with Ky-An. Everyone bought me shots but luckily they were all girly ones so I was just buzz and not drunk. The only strong one I took was with Nhi when we did the Tequila shot. I love that girl!! Mother of three and seriously so hot. I told them I can't get drunk because I still have to take care of Ky-An the next day and thankfully I wasn't.

I feel so bad that my friends bought me presnts. I've have been so caught up in my life the past couple of years with Lan-Vy's death; trying for another one; Ky-An's pregnancy that we wanted to keep quiet; and taking care of him this year that I haven't been a very good friend. I totally flake on all the events like my friend's birthdays, weddings, and baby showers. Some events Ky-An got sick so I can't go, or he was too young and I can't leave him, ect but still...I am such a bad friend. I feel like my friends are just being too good to me. I really hope I can make it up to them.

I opened my presents this morning and received a bunch of nice presents. I am just going to list them all here not to show off but so I'd remember when I read this again later. I got a nice baby photo album from Nhi and Rick. I got a $50 Amex gift cert from Annie Tran. That crazy girl..Hoa said she has no money so I feel so bad she spent money on this gift cert, paid for dinner, AND paid for everyone's cover charge at the club. I got a gift cert to Sephora from Jerry and Sandy. Mary got me a really cute capri and a shirt from Macy's. Of course the capri didn't fit so I have to go exchange it. :( Trang and Annie got me make-up from Nordstrom. They are really nice..there was a lipgloss and eye shadow pallette, a body scrub, and a lip injection lip gloss that suppose to plump up your lips. I gave them to my sister to use because I rarely wear any make-up. I'll take it back whenever there's s special occasion..hehe. My older sister Thuy and Tran got me a 1 hour massage gift cert to Massage Envy. The last time I went to a massage I didn't like it at all. I think it really hurt!! But since they went through all the trouble to get this gift cert, I'll try it out when my oldest sister come down from Dallas. I called everyone this morning and personally thanked them. It was such a good birthday!!!

Birthday celebration continues...

I am so spoil this birthday. I came to work today and my cubicle is all decorated. I got some papaya salad (goi kho bo) that Tanya, my boss/friend, made. I also got lipglosses from Bath and Body Works from my cubemate, Gabi. Tanya and Kathy is also taking me to the Kim Son buffet for lunch. Yummy!!! This is not helping my diet at all! I came home and got a flower delivery from my sister-in-law, Stacy and my mother-in-law. Hieu's nieces and sister-in-law also called and wish me Happy Birthday. I feel so loved!

Gabi gave me a box set of 3 of these lipglosses. They are so cute!!!

Happy Birthday to me!!!

I am so full today!! I took off today to go shop for a dress and get a pedicure. Accomplished both! Yeah. I found a dress that actually fit me. It's bright red so it's going to blind everyone at the party..hehe.

Hieu came home to pick me up for lunch and surprised me with a beautiful bouqet of flowers. I love getting flowers! Hieu surprised me and took me to a restaurant in the Montrose called Michaelangelo's. So yummy!! We had escargot for appetizers, then I had an asparagus salad and a snapper dish. After I drank my coffee, they brought out a tiramisu cake with a candle on it. So good. We had to to-go most of the food because I told Hieu if I eat another bite I may throw up. :P

Afterward I went to get my nails done and that's always fun. I went to the mall to find a dress for the dinner on Saturday. Of course most of them don't fit me but I found one that fit and look semi-decent. I also got a nice homemade birthday card from Joseph, my brother-in-law. He put lots of effort into it so I am very touched. Hieu got me the NAS system for me to record tv shows on and stuff. It's okay if you don't know what that is. It's a VERY techie-geek thing. My sister already got me shoes for Christmas and birthday but her boyfriend, Chi, decide to get me another gift!! I know, I am spoil. =) He got me this cool cover for my ipod and it can be prop up so I can watch movies and stuff. Very cool and very thoughtful. Chi is a very good guy. I am so glad he's with my sister. My oldest sister, Thuy, got me a sweater (that I went to the store and picked out myself!). Very customized..haha. My dad got me Old Navy jeans. I felt bad, I forgot to call my parents to thank them. What a spoil brat!

I didn't get out of the mall until 5p.m. Of course I got lost and can't remember where I parked so it took a while to get to my car. Me and my sense of directions!! When I finally got to my car, I was driving like a madwoman to pick up Ky-An since Hieu has to go to the grocery store took cook dinner tonight (a rare occasion). I keep hitting traffic and was getting so frustrated. I keep imagine Ky-An face looking at the door waiting for us to come and get him. It took me about 40 minutes to get the babysitter's house and it was the longest 40 minutes ever. After I picked him up I felt better. He didn't want me to leave him so he was fighting me in the carseat. I finally gave him an empty water bottle to play with and he was happy. He keep cracking up laughing in the back and I was laughing with him. He dropped the bottle halfway home and was whining the whole time. If fell to his feet and he was facing back so there was nothing I can do. I try to talk to him and make noises but he was not happy. Once we got home I picked up the bottle and give it to him and he was so happy to see his old friend..haha. Funny boy.

He learned how to clap today! Of course it's the cutest thing I've ever seen. He was standing up next to his toys and was clapping without holding onto anything. Then he stood against the wall and clapped for the longest time! Hieu said he is propping his butt against the wall for balance...hehe. When I dressing him after the bath today, he look at himself in the mirror and had the greatest time clapping. He keep grinning at himself in the mirror and "show off" by clapping to his "friend". It's so much fun to see him learn new things! He's the best present in the world and I am so blessed to have him!

This is what Hieu had. Apparently he saw the picture online and had to try it. It's really good!

This is their famous live tree that goes through the roof of the restaurant. A very romantic restaurant, I highly recommend if you are in town. Hieu and I had a great time there. Haven't had a good converstion with him for a while. There's always a short man yelling if he doesn't get enough attention.
