Ky-An's first show

We took Ky-An to see his first live show today and he totally loved it. We bought tickets when it first got sold and got floor tickets for all 4 of us. Two weeks ago Hieu's company offer the tickets at a discount so he bought some for my sisters and our nieces and nephews. The show is Disney Live. It has Little Einsteins, Pooh and Friends, and Handy Manny. The show was at noon and right during his naptime but he perked up as soon as he saw Little Einsteins and the rocket. He excitedly scream "WOCKET...WOCKET!!!" when the rocket came out. It was so cute! Hieu said after that he was up dancing and singing the entire show. The poor boy was so excited when we got home that we was down for the night at 5p.m.

We hit a few bumps before the show but it the end Ky-An enjoyed himself and that's all that matters. First I lost our tickets a few months before the show so I had to contact them to reprint a copy. Then when we got to the show, they won't let Heiu bring in his camera because the lense is too long and it's too close to the commerical ones. So he left me with a stroller, a clingy and tired Ky-An, the diaper bag, and ran back to the car to put his camera away. Luckily my brother-in-law stayed with me until he comes back. After Hieu left, they told us we had to check in the stroller and baby carrier because it won't fit in the stadium seat. So now I am carrying Ai-vy, Ky-An is clinging on my legs asking ot be held, and me praying Hieu would just hurry up and come back.

We then find our way to our seats just as the show starts. Since our seats are on the floor, we had to walk down all these stairs after they turn off the light to start the show. I was scare to death holding ai-Vy and walking down those stairs with hardly any light. I was very cautious and just thank god I decide to wear flats that day.

Then Hieu and I got into a huge fight at the show and I hate it whenever we fight in public because it really embarrasses me but he just doesn't know hen to let up. The fight began when we decide to switch seats with my sister because the floor seats were too close to the speaker. We didn't know where they are seating and they couldn't hear the phone to pick up when we called them. Hieu said he remember the area where they are seating so he'll take Ai-Vy and trade seats with my sister. I sat with Ky-An and Little Einsteis came on. He was so excited and I had him standing on my lap to see better. At that time my sister and niece came by. I was engrossed in the show with Ky-An and he was so excited and I was busy watching him. My sister then told me Hieu was waiting for me to take Ai-Vy up to her old seat. I didnt understand why he couldn't just stay up there with her himself but was like okay, he can wait for a bit since this is Ky-An's favorite part. Well he started waving at me and make angry gestures so I had to put Ky-An down on his chair and the poor boy was straining his neck to see his favorite part of the show. I scramble around to grab Ai-Vy's blanket and her milk bottle while Hieu still make awful faces and angry gestures.

I was sooo upset at him about the whole thing. His reasoing for being upset is because the people seating near the aisle were standing up waiting for me to come out after my sister came in. Okay how am I suppose to know that and I don't understand shy he can't just tell them to go ahead and sit down and I'll go the other way when I need to come out. His second reasoning was that the usher won't let him come down until he promised I would come right back up and that he had to help Ai-Vy's ears because it was so loud while waiting for me. I told him I can't understand why he couldn't just stay up with Ai-Vy and then I'll will come and be with her as soon as the Little Einsteins part is over. What did he think I would do? Leave him to take care of our little baby? Oh god forbid that may happen!! *gasp* He then justify himself by saying "Chau, that's not the only time the rocket will come out..I am sure it will come again." He said that to try and minimize my anger but guess what....the rocket never made another appearance.

Anyways as I said, Ky-An enjoyed himself and that's what matter overall. I felt so bad that he had to miss his favorite part that I made Hieu get him a rocket cupt. That cup cost $12..okay that's a little reasonable. Then I saw those spinning lights and I thought there was a rocket on there so I aked Heu to hunt down one. He finally did and told me it cost $25!!! What the heck??!! $25 for a freaking light that's not even a rocket. It was the Handy Manny character!! Talk abut rip-off!!

Ai-Vy was such a sweetie, as always. She fell asleep in my arms almost the entire show and woke up as we were leaving. She didn't cry, just look around as if to try and figure out what's going on.

Ky-An at 23 months and Ai-Vy at 3 months

Ky-An

Ky-An is back to be a mommy's boy. Yeah!! I love that's he's clingy to me and enjoy every minute of it. However, I don't enjoy that he cries every morning in the car on the way to the babysitter's for me. One day he cried so hard from home to there calling for mom..so sad. One night Hieu was bathing him and I keep hearing him scream "dau dau" for pain and he was crying hard. I was feeding Ai-Vy in the room but keep hearing him cry with no sigh of being calm down and all Hieu keep saying to him was "yes yes, daddy know you hurt." Poor Ai-Vy was gulping down her bottle but I had to yank it out and run to the bathroom to see what's going on. Turns out he had a bad poo-poo that made his butt hurt and daddy makes him sit in the hot bath water. I immediately tell Hieu to take him out and dry him. To this day I still can't understand how Hieu can ignore his cry of pain. It's an awful cry and I hope I never hear it again. Hieu said he thought the pain would go away in a bit. I am still in disbelief and still baffle by his reaction.

After Hieu dried and dressed him, he ran out of the bathroom into our bedroom looking for me. I was holding Ai-Vy and he was raising his arms wanting to hug. So I open my arm and he ran over and try to go around Ai-Vy to get to me. After several attemps, he hugged me on the side but I guess he wasn't satisfy so he ran back to his dad and ask his dad to hold him. It was so heartbreaking watching the whole scene and how he had to share mommy.
  • He loves to "help" us wash the dishes. Everytime he hear the water running on the kitchen sink, he would run to and carry his stepstool over so he can dump water from his little plastic cup into the sink. That's how he help.
  • He loves for you to chase him. He would run in place, yell "AHHHHH", and look back until you chase him around. He will keep running in place until and looking back until you get up and chase him.
  • He regain his obsession with fish. My sister got my nephew one of those little fishing games for Christmas and Ky-An is obsessed with those littel fishes. He act like they are his prize possession and keep hoarding them. He also like to balance them upright but since the fishes are so small and his hands are so chubby, they keep falling down. He gets really upset and frustrated when that happen and swipe the fishes everywhere screaming.
  • He's pretty good about taking his nap in the afternoon if you follow his schedule and make sure he's full beforehand. Yesterday I took him for his nap expecting him to throw a tantrum since his cousins are still playing outside. He must be pretty tired because he was happy seeing the bed and goes "ngu" for sleep. He tried to climb on the bed himself, drink his sippy of milk and went to sleep without a peep. I was pleasantly surprise. I've heard of it from the babysitter but never experienced it before.
  • Hieu thought Ky-An poo-pooed so he took him to the bathroom. He didn't so Hieu just let him out of the room without washing his hands. He goes "Dad, wash hands!" in Vietnamese. Too cute.
  • He can count to 10 in Vietnamese and know that he's counting and not just words. When I read to him last night, he point to each ant and starts couting off.
  • He can recognize letters and numbers. Whenever he see words printed on my shirt or an product, he starts singing the ABC's. If he see numbers then he'll start reciting all his numbers up to 10. He can recognize some letters of the alphabet such as "A" and "R".

Ai-Vy

She is such a sweet baby. The first thing she does when she wakes up is smile. She even giggle and smile in her sleep, so cute. She hardly ever cries. The only time I hear her cry is if she's extremely tired or if I pull the bottle out when she's drinking. Even then, it's only a little scream but not a full blown tears streaming cry. Sometimes I let her cry just a bitl longer than she needs to just to watch her because I just think it's so cute. Am I sick or what?!! :P

I don't really have to burb her either. If she needs to burb, she'll wiggle then gag herself until a burb comes out.

  • She can roll to her side from her back and from her side to back.

  • She only drink 7 ounces and maybe 7 times a day. If she's too tired or too hungry, you have to calm her down with a pacifier and swinging/bouncing her before she would take the bottle to go to sleep.
  • She has to hold onto her blanket when she sleeps.
  • She can hold on her pacifier and attempts to hold the bottle
  • She will lift up her head, her legs, and her shoulder whenever I put her in the bouncer. My little girl is trying to get up!
  • I think she's starting to teeth because she keeps gnawing on her little hands. I haven't seen her drooling yet though.
  • She smiles and can laugh out loud. I just love to make her laugh, such an adorable giggle.

    Ai-Vy got her ears pierced!

I decide to get Ai-Vy's ears pierced over the Christmas break when my sister is here. We decide to go the mall on December 26th because there was a big sale at Macy's and there is a coupon for $10 off every $25 purchase before noon. We managed to get there at 11 and had about 30 minutes to shop before we had to stand in line to check-out. I managed to grab some sweater for Ky-An and winter outfits for Ai-Vy next year. I hope my calculation is right and she'll fit it. She's ready to move into 6-9 months clothes so I am not sure.

Ky-An was asleep by the time we got to the mall so Hieu stayed in the car with him. He forgot to bring a camcorder for Ai-Vy's ear piercing so I told him to run home to grab it since he is in the car anyway.

After we got out of Macy's, it's lunchtime and the we needed to feed the kids so we head to the food court to meet up with Hieu. We had the hardest time finding a table to sit at because it's the lunch rush. We knew that would happen but what can you do when the kids are hungry? My sister and I split up and after 3 rounds, we finally found a table big enough for us and the kids but no chairs. I walked around to grab some chairs but the sun was shining at us and it was hot. Ai-Vy was asleep in the stroller and I worried she might be overheat. It was so noisy in the food court but she slept soundly. Poor thing must be so tired.

She was still asleep when we are done eating so we stopped by Bath and Body Works to grab some antibacterial soap. I just love those things. We also stopped by Children's Place but I didn't find anything I like. Ai-Vy was finally awake so we head for Icing by Claire's. The girl had the hardest time dotting Ai-Vy's ears because she keeps wiggling. In addition, her ears are not even so she has to pierce one lower than the other to make it appear even. Ai-Vy let out a scream for the first ear, then a longer one for the second ear. Poor thing, I then feed her after that and she's fine. I think part of her fuss was because she's hungry.

I asked my sister how come it didn't seem painful when she had her kids' ears pierced. I saw my niece's ears pierced and thought it was no big deal. How come this time it seem so painful? She laughed and said "that's simple, that's because it's not your kid." ^_^

    In her Bumbo:

Talking to dad. This girl loves to talk!

    Ai-Vy refused my breasts!!

Ai-Vy weaned herself from nursing on Christmas night. I am not sure what happened, the night before she was fine and then the next she wailed whenever I give her my breasts. So now I am pumping again like I did with Ky-An. I am sad that she won't be nursing anymore but I am also tired of fighting with her everytime. In the past few months, I had to wait until she's almost asleep before she's patient enough to nurse. Whenever she's too hungry and I offer the breasts, she will get all worked up and refused it while I am trying to calm her leaking everywhere. She is also getting more and more impatient waiting for the milk to come every feeding so I guess I should know this was coming.

There are some perks about nursing that I do miss, the closeness with her, the convenience, and the ability to tell when she's hungry. I am also not getting as much milk as when I nursed her because I guess the suction from the pump is not the same. Oh well, I will take what I can get. On a lighter note, I told Hieu pumping sucks and he asked if that's a pun! LOL.

    Christmas Week pictures...LOTS!

Hieu set up the bouncing gym for the kids one warm day. The kids had a blast jumping around in their pjamas in front of our house. Ky-An just perfected his jumping skill so he had so much fun.

    Both feet off the ground!

    Christmas Eve:

We call her El Destructo. She's so cute that you can't get mad at her though.

This was all she was interested in, grabbing the bows and stick them to herself:

My oldest sister opening presents with her girls. Everyone opened the presents at the same time because we didn't think the kids can wait for their turn. It's pretty much mayhem.

My second oldest sister and her son:

I love the mornings when they all get to hang out in their pjamas. I think we have a band here:

Sharing goldfishes in the kitchen corner. My youngest niece is hilarious. She would run over to her big sister, grab a goldfish, run back to sit next to Ky-An. By that time she is done with her goldfish so she barely sat back down before she gets up and get another goldfish from her big sister.

    Christmas

My sister and her kids are spending the whole week of Christmas and New Year with us! I am so excited to see the kids and my sister for the entire week!! It was so hard to find time to decorate the house and put up the lights this year. We didn't finish putting up the lights until mid-December and the tree up a week before Christmas. Hey, I am just proud we got it done. I even somehow managed to find ornaments for the kids

We decide to let the kids open their presents on Christmas Eve. We orginally plan to let them open it Christmas morning but my parents wanted to be there so we changed it to Christmas Eve. The kids had a blast opening all their presents. Ky-An wasn't interested in tearing the presents open but was so excited when he received the Little Einsteins rocketship we got him.

Christmas morning Santa Claus came by for a visit but my nieces was scare of him. Ky-An was the only one who would even get close to Santa Claus. We opened stocking stuffers and then got ready to go to my aunt's for a lunch. This is the lunch we got them matching outfits for. My other aunt wanted a family picture so we coordinate all our outfits for the picture. Ky-An had a blast playing with all his cousins at my aunt's house. Poor Ai-Vy was so tired but can't sleep because the kids are being so noisy. She would fall asleep in my arms but as soon as I put her down then she wakes up. I finally just held her so she can get some sleep. She was asleep through the family picture even though it was horrendously noisy. She's a very good little girl.

Ky-An is so in love with my older niece when she was here. Every morning as soon as he wakes up, he'll point upstairs and ask for Big Sister Tam. As soon as he hears her voice when she woke up, he gets so excited. He'll start running in place and giggle. If we are going somewhere and he doesn't see her in the car, he'll whine for her until he sees her.

He's still a good sharer. We had no problem with him when his cousins are here visiting for a week. There was some pulling and pushing with his youngest cousin when he's tired and cranky but nothing serious. Whenever they are playing with something he wants to play with, he just waits patiently at the side until they are done or walk away then swoop over and play with it. This morning his youngest cousin was lying on his chair so he just stood there waiting for her to get up and he happily climb on to reclaim it. He wanted the horse that belong to my older niece but Hieu told her it's his cousin so he handed it to her, even if he's not happy. :)

Ai-Vy is in Training at the babysitter!

I put Ai-Vy in the babysitter's for a couple of hours in the morning so she can have some exposure since I have to go back to work after the New Year. Hieu is off next week and my sister will be down so I had to drop her off this week to practice. It's good timing because I can also get all my Christmas shopping and chores done. I picked up both kids after 12 and have them home with me. Ky-An sleeps at 12 so I was hoping he will fall asleep in the car on the way home. I was nervous about taking care of both kids but everything went pretty well. I was even able to put both kids to sleep at the same time so I am pretty proud of myself. It feels good to know that I can do it.

Ai-Vy cried for 10 minutes the first day (poor thing) but was better after that. She didn't sleep much but I was expecting that for the transition. I picked them up at 12:30 on Monday, got my eye examined and a pedicure that day. I decide to have them stay there until 3p.m. (after Ky-An's nap) on Tuesday so I can get everything done and have Ky-An home with me in the morning for the rest of the week. On Tuesday I got my hair cut and finish up my Christmas shopping. I came there to pick them up at 3p.m. and the babysitter informed me that she hasn't eat that much. She gave me the bottle to see if she would take the bottle from me. I notice that the bottle is cold and ask her if she heat it up? She told me she thought mother's milk doesn't need heating up. WTH??!! I asked if she not heat up Ky-An's milk before and she said she did, she just forgot. She felt really bad so I just let it go. I made sure to remind her again to just heat the milk in hot water, not the microwave.

Wednesday I had to go to work to take care of some issues and deliver presents to one of my co-worker's kids. Ky-An was entertained by my boss and co-workers while I get some work done. He was very good overall, even sit quietly and draw for about 15 minutes while I take care of some stuff. He's a stickler for his afternoon nap time so I always plan everything carefully. It was 11 a.m. when we left so I changed his diaper and figure we will make it to a restaurant to get some food in him. We can then go to pick up Ai-Vy and he'll probably fall asleep. I tried to play with him and talk to him on the way to keep him awake but the boy fell asleep just as we got to the restaurant. I figure he'll wake up once we get into the restaurant since he just fell asleep. I picked him up, put him on the driver seat while I turn off the engine and grab the key, carry him and the diaper into the restaurant, and order food. Tried as I may, he's dead asleep and won't wake up. I asked for the food to-go and had to balance him, the diaper bag, and the to-go food back out to the car. You saw my son, he's not very light. :)

I picked up Ai-Vy and he stayed asleep until I pull up the driveway. Tell me that's not great timing? I managed to get both kids into the house. Ai-Vy was still asleep so I fed Ky-An and then managed to get him down for his nap also. He was screaming and talking loudly protesting his nap but luckily Ai-Vy was too tired and remain sound asleep.

Thursday Ky-An and I stayed home in the morning to wrap presents for his babysitter and for his little friends there. I fed him and went to pick up Ai-Vy. I let him carry the present for his little friend so he can give it to them but the poor thing fell asleep before we got there. It's not even a ten minutes drive but I guess he was tired. Either that or I am really boring to be around because he keep falling asleep on me. Today he remain asleep when we got home but Ai-Vy was awake. As soon as I got Ai-Vy to sleep, he woke up crying. I somehow managed to calm him down and get him to go back to sleep and kept Ai-Vy asleep also.

Ky-An keep being asleep whenever I come to pick up Ai-Vy so our babysitter didn't get to see him much at all this week. She begged Hieu and I to drop him off early Friday so she can see him before he's off for a week and a half. We set out early today and stopped by Chick-Fil-A for some breakfast. A local radio station was there giving away Hannah Montana tickets and the Chick-Fil-A cow so Ky-An and I joined the festivities. We didn't win the tickets but got a cd. We then went to Target to look for the Christmas outfit for all the kids. Since we are buying it so late, there's hardly anything left. If there is something, I can't find all the sizes we need.

I then decide to drop him off to the babysitter so she can see him while I go hunt down some Christmas outfits. Well he fell asleep again when we got there. I tell ya, he must be bored to tears with me. Our babysitter asked if I can pick them up at 3p.m. instead of 12? I said that's fine because I have some errands to run. I went to several stores and my sisters went to the mall in search of the Christmas outfit for the kids. We were on a mission. By 1 o'clock our mission is accomplished and I ran home to eat some lunch and to pump before running out to pick up the kids.

The week was tiring but it's so much fun finally getting to spend some alone time with Ky-An. I had a blast with him and I think he's warming up to me again because he's clingier to me now. Yeah!!!

    Week in Pictures

All dressed up to go to my friend's daughter's birthday party. We didn't even make it out the door because both kids had their pre-nap tantrums so I decided to put them both down for their nap. By the time they got up the party was over.

    Happy baby:

    Sooo tired...

His favorite thing to do.."help" us wash the dishes. Everytime he hears the water running in the sink, he'll come running and carry the stepstool over the sink. He can stand their for hours using the nipple brush and put it in the bottle to scrub.

He looks so grown up in these pjamas:
