Christmas week pictures..LOTS!!
Hieu set up the bouncing gym for the kids one warm day in front of our house. They all had a blast jumping in their pjamas. Ky-An just perfected his jumping skills so he had so much fun.

Ky-An and Ai-Vy's Development
Ky-An
- Ky-An has develop some odd fears. He is now very scare of the dark so he would not walk anywhere that is a little dark. When he goes to bed at night, we have to also turn on the night light on his side of the bed. I have to turn it off after he goes to sleep because it’s too bright and it cause Ai-Vy to wake up in the middle of the night thinking it’s time to play.
- He taught me a little birdie song in Vietnamese that his babysitter taught him.
- I think he misses the cuddling the babysitter and I give him because he’s been super clingy every since school started. He clings to me and tries to cuddle with me everywhere after school every day. He also makes me lay in bed at night with him and cuddle up with me to go to sleep. I don’t mind it one bit but I really hope it’s just a phase. His teacher asked me today if he’s an only child. Wonder what she mean by that??!!
- I was trying to teach Ky-An right turns and left turns when we were driving in the car. I had to do a U-turn and told him “Mommy is making a U-turn!” Ky-An immediately replied and goes “NOooo it’s not MY turn!!” I couldn’t stop laughing and he started laughing also.
Ai-Vy
- One day Ai-Vy came home and I tell her something at the dinner table and she argued with me “hong phai” meaning not right. I told “phai” and she goes “hong phai”. I kept it going several more times because I thought it was so funny. Then she asked to come down from the table and then walk around going “hong biet” meaning don’t know and put both hands up with a little shrug. Hieu and I looked at each other in disbelief.
We tried..and we failed
I thought we were doing well preventing Ai-Vy from getting sick, especially with Ky-An getting better and she showed no signs. Unfortunately I was wrong. She started throwing up at 7 p.m. tonight and hasn't stop since. She threw up another 5 times and it's now only 10:30. It's so sad when I put her down to sleep and her mouth keep on opening looking for her bottle of milk. The poor thing is probably wondering why we won't give her the bottle tonight. I got so sad thinking how much she's going to suffer the next few days and how much work it's going to be to care for her that emotions overwhelmed me and I started to cry. I thought about how she depends on her bottles before naptime and now she can't even have them. She's not going to be able to sleep and I am not sure how to sneak water in her like we do with Ky-An. I hate the image of her laying exhausted and almost lifeless like how Ky-An has been. Ky-An can at least communicate with us but she won't be able to say anything at all. I get so sad thinking about all that.
Whenever the kids get really sick like this, all the images of what we went through with Lan Vy come spilling back to me. Because of these images, I end up scaring myself even more about their illness. I thought about what I would do if another child is taking away from me and I honestly don't think I am emotionally sound to handle it. Times like these remind me of all the trivial things that I took for granted such as them asking for their milk, eating and refusing to eat, their laughs, their playfulness, and their tantrums. At least with all these things they have the energy to do so and not lay there exhausted. I just pray and hope that the kids will be better soon.
