What Ky-An Learned – Week of November 9

  • Learned how eyes and ears help us form a complete picture.
  • Learned about the importance of taking proper care of our eyes and ears.

Language and Literacy/Mucho Mundo:

  • Read A Color of His Own 
  • Leaned “los ojos” for eyes and “las orejas” for ears. 
  • Introduced Alpha-Friend Fifi fish

Science and Technology:

  • Focused on types of sounds that can be heard while opening different containers of liquids and solids.
  • Used fruit juice, club soda and ice cubes to hear different sounds.

Creative Arts and Expression:

  • Enjoyed making “Magic Painting Bags”

Mathematics:

  • Learned geometric solids such as cubes, cones , and spheres

Phusical Development and Health:

  • Played “Bears” and “Turkeys”

Social-Emotional Development/Character Development:

  • Learned that when we are polite to others and treat them with courtesy, we are showing respect for them.

What Ky-An Learned – Week of November 2

  • Learned three of the five senses

Language and Literacy/Mucho Mundo:

  • Listened to My Five Senses
  • Learned mouth (la boca), la nariz (nose)

Science and Technology:

  • Discovered sweet and sour
  • Performed a comparison experiment between sugar and salt. 

Creative Arts and Expression:

  • Made different things with “scented” play dough. 
  • Created “Pinch of Salt” drawings. 

Mathematics:

  • Counted and made up groups up to five.

Physical Development and Health:

  • Discussed that eating too many sweets is not good for your teeth and your health.

Social-Emotional Development/Character Development:

  • Discussed the importance of respecting other people’s space.
