What Ky-An is up to at 17 months

  • He turns everywhere on the bed when he sleeps at night and when he wakes up, he tries to wake Hieu or I up and make us hold him. He would point his finger at the door to go outside and then go to family room to grab the remote to try and turn on the TV to the Disney Channel. That's what daddy and him do every morning.

  • He loves flipping his own book and "reads" it. Very cute thing to see. He doesn't even like me to read to him during bedtime anymore. He would rather flipping the pages and then point to certain things on it asking me what it is.

  • He likes to watch and mimic whatever we do.

  • He can climb up and down the couch by himself.

  • He likes to fight mommy at bedtime and try to crawl off the bed thinking it's hilarious making mommy chase him around.

  • He will try to climb down the bed but if he feel that his feet doesn't touch the ground then he'll climb back on the bed.

  • He can say change diaper with is "thay ta", "nuoc" for water, and "veet, be-jeet" for duck,, "ngon qua'" for something that tastes good, "gi do" for what's that, "gioi qua'" for a good boy. The funniest one is where he'll point at his wee-wee and say "chim". It's the same word for birds so he gets really confuse when we point to the sky and say "chim".

  • He tries to put on his clothes and shoes but his shorts will go on his head and his shirt will go on his legs.

  • He can stand up hold on to you and lift his legs to put into the pant legs.

  • He likes to put on his red slippers and red wet socks and walk around.

  • If he sees a light switch, he'll try to climb the wall or get one of us to pick him up so he can turn on/off the lights. It's so cute to see him mesmerized whenever the light turns on and off.

  • He is testing out his voice and loves to scream.

  • Whenever he throws a tantrum, he just sits down and scoot all around with a mad look on his face. No screaming nor yelling (thank goodness). He looks so cute most of the time people just laugh.

  • He loves his two board books that let you feel the different textures of different animals. He'll flip to a page, look at me and wait for me to tell him what animal it is and the noise it makes. Last night he wouldn't let go of the book as he was falling asleep. I was afraid he may get bruises because he keep laying on top of it or have it tapping against himself but he screams and starts going after it everytime I try to take it away. I had to wait until he fall asleep before I can do it.

  • He has discover dinosaurs and just loves them.

  • Every morning he climbs on the scale in the bathroom to "weigh" himself then stands next to his growth chart to see how tall he is. (He is currently 27 pounds and 2 feet 8 inches tall.)

  • When he lays down on his little couch, he can't get up because he doesn't want to let go of his evening milk bottle. He just yells for you to lift his back to help him up or to hand you the milk bottle/sippy. He never throws it on the ground when he's done. He just waits to set it down or to give it to you.

  • He likes to drag things around with him, from his blanket to the empty 5 gallon water bottle.

  • He likes to close things; whether it be doors, drawers, or laudry hampers

  • He likes to try touching your belly button and laugh hysterically when you move away.
