Happy 90th Birthday Grandma!
I never seen her smiled and laughed so much. She was so happy to see all her grandkids and great-grandkids. 
I’ve never been to a birthday party with a mass before! 
2 priests doing her mass. It’s suppose to be a prestigious thing and great honor to have not one, but two priests at your birthday!

Arkansas Trip
We flew with Hieu's brother and the kids to Arkansas over the July 4th weekend to attend Hieu's grandma's 90th birthday celebration. I let Hieu do all the travel arrangements because he used to live there and I think it was a mistake. It's not that he didn't do a great job or that he didn't try, it's that he's not detailed enough to plan for the little stuff. When you travel with two young children, those small things are really big. The flight there was just long but it wasn't too bad. I've been buying the kids little toys, a notebook, and lots to stickers that were on clearance at Walgreens. Our flight is not until 1 but we left at 10 in the morning to feed the kids some lunch. Ai-Vy was already tired during lunch and didn't eat much. They both decide to sleep in the car on the way to the airport. I already knew it wasn't such a great idea.
We got to the airport and I had to push Ai-Vy in the stroller while holding Ky-An's hand to take him to the potty before the flight while Hieu grab all the luggage and carseats. Let's just say it's a VERRY long walk from the parking lot to check-in and us not knowing where we were going didn't help.
I got to the lobby, found a restroom for Ky-An to go potty, changed Ai-Vy’s diaper, and then meet up with Hieu at ticketing. We already print out our boarding pass but we had to wait in the long line to check in our luggage. They also wanted to check Ai-Vy birth certificate because she was a lap child. Going through security was a pain with small children because they wanted us to open up all the milk sippies we packed for the kids and put a litmus paper over them. I guess to see if any fumes evaporated from the milk. I also bought Ky-An 5 individual boxes of organic milk which they made us throw away because it's pre-packaged and they can't open them to test. WASTE!!!
The kids refused to drink the milk as we are taking off so I gave them some Lifesavers gummy candies instead. Ky-An was really cute on the plane as we are taking off. He was really excited and keeps screaming "We are Flyyyinnng!!! We are FLLYYINNNG!!!" I love that sparkle in his eyes and the big grin on his face from excitement. As we are descending, he screamed "We are going DOWWWWNNN!!! We are going DOWWWN!!" I thought it was really cute until I notice several nervous glances our way. I taught him to say "we are landing" instead and he remembered that on the way back.
The flight was short and the kids kept busy with the stickers and toys I've been stashing way from Walgreens clearance. They love sticking them on their own notebooks.
We got there about 4:30 and we still have to get the car and drive an hour to Hot Springs since there's no direct flight. Hieu said we had to take the shuttle to the car rental place so we hauled all the luggage and the kids to the parking lot. Turns out the car rental place is right there in the parking lot!!! Hieu had to do some paperwork so I was left in the parking lot entertaining the kids while making sure they don't get run over with cars. Lots of fun in the heat. Thank goodness my brother-in-law traveled with us!
We got to Hot Springs at about 5-ish and I wanted to feed the kids. I don't know why but I have a fear of my kids going hungry and that's the biggest source of my stress. As long as they are full and ate well then I can relax. Hieu wanted to go check-in to our hotel that his aunt booked for us first. I initially wanted a vacation home but Hieu couldn't find any this holiday weekend. I have my own ideas as to what happened but that's a different post. I already had a bad feeling about the hotel as we were pulling up. It looked like a roach motel. Even Hieu said it's nasty so you can imagine how gross it is. I wasn't comfortable letting the kids stay there so I asked if he can find another hotel to book instead.
We went over his aunt's house for dinner and the poor things were so hungry they gobbled all the food up. They are full and happy so I can finally relax a little. Hieu told his aunt about the hotel and she offered for us to stay with them. He put me on the spot and asked me what I think. His aunt and uncle love the kids very much and I don't mind the kids spending extra time with them. However, we booked a hotel for a reason. Once we "decided" to stay at his uncle's place, Hieu had to go back to our hotel to get our luggage and go buy the kids some milk. That left me to entertain the kids in a house with no toys and full of breakables. That ended our long day of travel and the way back is even worst!!!
We left at about 11 to Little Rock even though our flight is not until 2:30p.m. We wanted to get to the city and feed the kids before getting on the plane. Unfortunately there is an accident on the way that delayed us for over an hour. By the time we got to the airport, return the car, check in luggage and carseats, and got to our gate; they were doing the final boarding already. We managed to get seats across the aisle from each other all the way in the back of the plane and no lunch for the kids..and lots of stress for me. I gave them some dry cereal and the gobbled that up with me guiltily looking on.
Ai-Vy was cranky and kept kicking the seat in front of me so I passed her to Hieu. She then wanted mommy so Hieu passed her back. After several times of passing, she threw up. I have to say that we were very efficient when she threw up that not a lot of people even noticed. I quickly give the barf bag and a towel for Hieu to clean up. Changed her shirt and put them all in the barf bag to seal up.
We landed and after we got our car, load up the luggage, and put in the carseats; it is past 6 and the kids haven't had a good meal since breakfast. I tried to look for a restaurant of feed them on the way home but there weren't any. I wanted a good meal with lots of nutrients so I bypass all the fast food chains. We decide to go to a Chinese restaurant near our home and Miss Ai-Vy fell asleep on the way. I saw her sleeping and I was like "NOOOOOO...you haven't eat yet!!!" We woke her up to eat and they both had a big meal making mommy very happy. That was the end of my very stressful and exhausted weekend..not a vacation at all.
Hieu had a great time with his family and the kids were happy being spoiled. Each of Hieu's siblings brought the kids toys and they were showered with lots of attention by everyone all weekend. I am sure that's what they will remember and not their mom's ordeal.

Grandma came for a visit
Hieu’s mom came to visit the kids for a few days and they were showered with so much attention. We were spoil with great food. It’s just soooo nice to have someone cook for you..hehe. We went to the Japanese garden on Saturday, then went to my aunt’s house for dinner that night. I had an impromptu bar-b-que/crawfish cookout on Sunday.
Hieu’s mom is impress at how much Ai-Vy can talk and how smart Ky-An is. She told us she printed out a 8x10 of the whole family and put it in her purse. She pulls it out and show off to everyone she sees. That’s what I call a proud grandma!!

Trip to Dallas
We drove up to Dallas to visit my sister and attend my niece’s third birthday party. My second older sister and my nephew cam along with us. The trip there was rainy and cold with lots of traffic. Not a great combination with 3 small children in the car. There were two major accidents and lots of traffic so it took us over 6 hours instead of 4. The bad thing about the weather is that we can’t really let the kids out whenever we stop so they are pretty confined. The way back is just as bad and poor Ai-Vy was going crazy. The last hour before we got home is always the longest and the one that the one that stressed me out the most. The good news is that Ky-An did wonderfully with no diapers the entire trip!!! Yeah Ky-An!!
